CSSA and CIS Trials – 2015

CIS (Combined Independent Schools) and CSSA (Christian Schools Sports Association) trials are for experienced, high level athletes only.

There are opportunities throughout the year to trial for CSSA teams to represent CSSA at Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Carnivals.

CIS is a highly competitive state wide competition for Independent schools. Some sports require students to be individually nominated to trial for CIS teams, whereas others require qualification through CSSA. Selection trials for CIS are only open to high level players.

Further information about trials and CIS events and the full calendar can be found on the CIS website: http://www.aisnsw.edu.au/Services/CIS/Pages/default.aspx

CSSA information and the full calendar can be found on the CSSA website: www.cssa.net.au

If you are a WCCS student interested in being nominated to attend the trials for a particular sport, or would like further information, please email your details for consideration to primarysport@wccs.nsw.edu.au

Please note that nominations closing date deadlines specified for trials are final and that late entries will not be accepted.

The Primary Sport Blog will have reminders throughout the year on entry due dates for upcoming events.

2015 Calendar – Get your dates for sport here

Parents and Students,

Thank you for using the Primary Sport Blog this year.  Please keep encouraging others to sign up so they too will get all the updates for Primary Sport in 2015.

Last year I published the calendar early and it was well received.  Please use the 2015 calendar to plan your year of sport.  You can see what is coming up and let the school know if you are interested in your child (or you if you are a student) participating.  Throughout the year the calendar will be linked on the tab at the top of the page so that you do not have to find this post each time.

Thanks for a great year of sport. We have the finals for IPSSO Summer competition tomorrow, then Ben K will be attending Nationals in Tasmania too and we can’t forget the cricket team still to complete their competition. After this sport will be just about done for the year.  We have had a great year of competition.

2015 WCCS Primary Sport Calendar Blog Version

Snr Boys Cricket are on a GOOD THING!

One of Australia’s favourite past times and the ‘sound of summer’ for many of us is cricket.  I am very proud to say that this year, WCCS has a team of young cricketers who have quietly gone through a series of matches without fuss, but with great skill and sportsmanship.  These boys have beaten teams that have a history of being tough competition with significant run advantages. However, these boys have remained focused and keen for the next match.

Mr Nott has spoken proudly of the way these boys have represented the school.  I feel that the famous Don Bradman sums up the boys well in this quote:

“When considering the stature of an athlete or for that matter any person, I set great store in certain qualities which I believe to be essential in addition to skill. They are that the person conducts his or her life with dignity, with integrity, courage, and perhaps most of all, with modesty. These virtues are totally compatible with pride, ambition, and competitiveness.”

Over the next week this team will be playing in the finals of this competition and we want to acknowledge the hard work put in by the team and Mr Nott.  Also keep the team in your prayers for safety and health so that they can finish the competition the way they have played each and every game this year.

The finals has not got a set date or opponent as of yet.
