Two Builders

In Bible we read the following passage Matthew 7:24-27 about two builders. The students in pairs retold the story using story stones. As you can see on the stones we have the foolish builder, the house that was near the water, the wise builder, the house that was on the rock and the complication the rain. We talked through the meaning of this story that Jesus told: that true wisdom comes from trusting in Him and His word. If we build our lives on God’s truth then we will be able to persevere (keep going) when the storms of life come!

Matthew 7: 24-27 Two Builders

24 Anyone who hears and obeys these teachings of mine is like a wise person who built a house on solid rock. 25 Rain poured down, rivers flooded, and winds beat against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on solid rock.

26 Anyone who hears my teachings and doesn’t obey them is like a foolish person who built a house on sand. 27 The rain poured down, the rivers flooded, and the winds blew and beat against that house. Finally, it fell with a crash.

Literature and Art: Eric Carle Inspired Colourful Creations!

KC in art have been exploring Eric Carle style artworks. The first week we painted with bright colours on a paper plate to construct our Changing Chameleon from the book “The Mixed up Chameleon” The next two weeks we drew with crayons, paint washed and collaged a seahorse from the book “Mister Seahorse”. Here are some of the students comments on the artworks: “It was colourful and it moved.”, “It is cool and invisible”  “ It changed colour!” “I love the way it camouflaged!”

Term 4 Learning!

After reading “Crocodiles Are The Best Animal Of All”  by S. Taylor and looking at the meaning of opinion as- meaning a thought or idea that have strong feeling about. Students worked in pairs to pick the best animal of all… in their opinion and stated reasons why they had formed these opinions. Great Learning KC!

This afternoon, KC got into the Olympic spirit. We watched a little bit of the opening ceremony in Rio. We watched some swimming races and cheered for Australia. We watched some rhythmic gymnastics too.

After lunch, we made our own medals to wear and then joined the rest of Kindergarten on the oval for some Olympic game fun.

We are looking forward to Olympic Sports Carnival in Week 5 (Thursday 25th August).

Paper Plane Competition

On Monday 15/8/16 our school will once again be part of the NSW Young Scientist Paper Plane Competition. The children in KC will have to fold a paper plane with an A4 piece of paper. They will then throw it as far as they can.

Today we had such fun practicing folding a paper plane and then we had even more fun throwing it outside. I have included the video that we followed today, if the children would like to practice at home over the weekend.

Next week is National Science Week- we will be having fun thinking about drones, droids and robots which is the National theme.
