Tournament of the Minds Regional Final

On Sunday the 23rd of August, a group of students from Years 7-9 represented William Carey in the NSW Regional Final of the Tournament of the Minds.

The group had five weeks to create and design a vehicle that could transport a cargo along a path using ‘nearly invisible’ rods and lines. They also had to create their props and write a ten minute script.

The team came up with a story that involved rivalry between two magicians involving an ‘invisible’ vehicle that could move a piano across the stage. The team also employed humour as a performance skill.

Although they didn’t make it to the next round, the group greatly impressed the judges with their device which incorporated hydraulics and their excellent props.

Congratulations to Sonia J, Stefani S, Esther P, Dayanara C, Timothy N, Maurizio P and Lincoln L on a fantastic effort
